SYNOPSIS
Phaim is a young Muslim boy of Bangladeshi origin, born in Italy 22 years ago. He lives with his family in Torpignattara, a multi-ethnic neighbourhood in Rome, works as a steward in a museum and plays in a band. Right during a gig he meets Asia, a girl who’s his exact opposite: pure instinct, no rules. They are instantly attracted to each other, and Phaim has to work out how to reconcile his love for the girl with the most sacred of Islamic rules: chastity before marriage.

THE DIRECTOR:

Phaim (1995, Italy) is from a Bangladeshi family and studies Video Design and Film at the Istituto Europeo di Design. He worked as an assistant director on several films and has directed music videos and an episode of the Italian TV series Yoroi (2017). His first feature film, Bangla, has its world premiere at IFFR 2019.
