SYINOPSIS

Cavalier Passaguai has lost his job and his family is facing a difficult situation. Meanwhile, the landlord, a former actor, is striving to get the rent paid. One day, while Passaguai is strutting around in the luxurious car of a chauffeur friend of his, he sees a former fellow soldier get out of an expensive car as well. Each of them, dazzled by appearances, believes that the other has become a millionaire, so the two friends start talking business. They found a company and entrust its management to an accountant, who sets up a luxurious office. But when the two partners are asked to pay ten million to a guy who has sold them a plot of land, trouble begins.

CRITICAL NOTE

“Exhilarating from beginning to end. And that is certainly what Fabrizi wanted to achieve when he embarked on this new effort as a director and actor.” (Il Gazzettino di Venezia, 4/7/1952)
